RISKS OF GETTING NAILS DONE

Do you go to a nail salon to have your nails done?  In this  busy world, isn't it nice to sit back and be pampered,  knowing your nails will look much better than anything you could have done with them?
Recently I ran across an article on the risks you may be taking when you go to a nail salon to have your nails done and it really made me stop and think.
The article talked about HIV/AIDS if the skin was broken and this really scared me.  There is a link to information about women and HIV infection.
My grandson recently went to a hairdressing salon to have a piercing.  I was worried about the risk of infection at the time and my worries were justified.  It took a course of antibiotics to clear up the infection after this piercing.  This is not to say the salon did not follow proper procedures with sterilising needles etc but I don't believe a hair salon is the best place to get a piercing because it is an invasive procedure and should be done by a doctor.
If my grandson had said he was going to have his nails done I would have been quite happy and would not have given it a second thought.  That was, until I read How Safe Is Your Nail Salon. The article had a link to a section titled 10 Tips for Healthy Manicure and I realised how valuable these 10 tips were for people who get their nails done.
When you read this article you will be able to protect yourself and isn't that what we all want to do?
