LIVER CLEANSING DIET
Recently I had a blood test and one of the things my doctor looked at was my liver function. Anyone who is on regular medication long term should have this test done regularly. When my results came back it showed an abnormal reading and I was sent for a second test.
My first thought was to go on a Liver Cleansing Diet so I set out to do a little research before trying the diet and I found the information I wanted at Virtual Medical Centreand in particular in one section under the heading "what is the evidence that liver cleansing diets work". The diet may lead to weight loss and increased energy because it is simply healthy eating but there is no evidence that it has any effect on the liver. You will find the benefits of the diet on this site also.
I also learned that the supplements that people take with this diet can be harmful and react badly with other medications. The supplements recommeded are also very expensive and there is no evidence that they are beneficial or necessary. This particular section is very important if you are contemplating going on this diet. Under the heading "more information" there is a link to a video that I would highly recommend to anyone thinking of going on any diet. Don't risk your health with fad diets. Learn the facts about food, eat healthy and feel well.
I am definitely going to go on a healthy diet, get some exercise and hope it will improve my general health but if the liver doesn't do it's job I know there is no diet that will change it.
