Cairns to Green Island

The boat trip across to Green Island from Cairns did not take long.  We were able to have a complimentary cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit on the boat on the way over.  (Our boat was the Catamaran not the sailing ship)
Green Island is a coral cay  northeast of Cairns and it is an ideal day trip if you want to check out the coral formations.  You can do this by snorkeling off the beach or do what we did and go out in the glass bottom boat.  The coral formations are amazing.
We also went into the underwater observatory where we could watch the tropical fish through the portholes.  The colours are wonderful but I was a  little disapointed that we didn't see Nemo (so was my youngest grandson when I broke the sad news to him).  He really thought I would find Nemo while I was there.
We spent the rest of our time walking through the rainforest and browsing through the shops.
Some of the people who came over on the boat with us were booked in to the Green Island Resort for a longer stay.
All too soon it was time to get on the boat and head back to Cairns where we would get ready for our day in Kuranda.
