Weipa To Musgrave Station

We are now into our sixth day of our trip and on our way from Weipa to Musgrave Station, travelling throught Mungkan  Kandju National Park. We would be staying the night at Musgrave Station.  Unfortunatly a lot of the photos I took of this section of our trip have disapeared so I suggest you  click here
and watch this excellent you tube clip taken at the Archer River Roadhouse.
This is where we stopped for lunch and like most of the meals we have had so far it is a basic home cooked meal but very tasty.
We passed through Coen which is an old gold mining town situated on the Telegraph line that ran from Laura to Bamaga.  We visited the museum in Coen before continuing on to Musgrave Station.
Once again our accommodation was basic but comfortable.  No tents this time but no ensuite, a communal shower and toilet.
This is where we saw our first fresh water crocodile when we went for a walk. It was only a small one, about 1.5 metres long but I don't think they grow much bigger than that.  It just seemed to float almost below the surface of the water but I am sure it was keeping a watchful eye on us and would have been gone in a flash if we had gone too close to it.
This was the first wildlife we had seen on the trip  except for some birds at Moreton Station.  I was surprised  we didn't see more.
Tomorrow we are travelling through beautiful Lakefield National Park on our way to Cooktown.
