Lakefield National Park

The journey from Musgrave Station to Cooktown was, for me, one of the highlights of the trip.  The beauty of the area really captured me and a visit to Old Laura Homestead was a step back into the past. Once again we were reminded of the courage and endurance of thos early pioneers whofaced the unknown and carved a life for themselves in the remote bush.
Laura Station is very well preseved and maintained and well worth a visit

Our next stop would be historical and beautiful Cooktown where we would stay the night.  I had always imagined Cooktown as a busling tourist resort and this could not have been further from the truth.
