Insomnia: Difficulty Falling Asleep

Do you often have difficulty falling asleep? You find your brain won't stop and you lie awake for hours going over the problems of the day in your head? There are some simple steps you can take that may help.
If you can't sleep don't lie in bed tossing and turning and getting stressed because you can't sleep, get up and do something else. A glass of hot milk will often help or you could sit and read until you feel tired and then go back to bed.
The bedroom should be associated with sleeping. If you have difficulty getting off to sleep then don't read in bed. Read your book before you go to bed. Avoid stimulants like tea, coffee or alcohol in the evening.
It is wise to "wind down" in the evening and perhaps practice some relaxation techniques to ensure you are fully relaxed when you get into bed.
Difficulty sleeping is a common problem and it is not something that is age or gender specific. If you are one of these sleepless soles then a good site to get information is a site called Merck & Co.
It is difficult enough coping with what our daily lives throw at us but when you are tired and not feeling fully rested life becomes even more difficult so don't wait until this problem resolves itself meet it head on. Get rested and get on top.

There's a Snake In My Garden

Oh My God, there is a huge carpet snake in my garden and no man in my house to get rid of it. I watched it slither slowly across my back patio, crawl up into my garden and go to sleep. For the first time since my divorce I wanted a man in the house.
Do you have a phobia? Snakes and leeches and other legless things are mine so this is probably my worst nightmare happening right there in my tiny overgrown garden that I had planned to attack today and try and put into some order.
Not having a man in the house I am now going to have to pay someone to clean up my garden for me. My resident snake might make the cost rise considerably but there is no way I am putting my hand or foot, for that matter, in my garden until Mr Snake is long gone.
Yes, I know, he is beautiful and he is harmless and he eats rats and mice (and also baby birds of course) but PLEASE, not in my garden.
Now I know, there really are times when you need a man in your life.

Unrealistic Expectations

With the divorce rate rising and the number of marriages declining is it unrealistic to expect a relationship to last "until death us do part"? It would certainly seem to be.
Although some couples stay together and are happy many stay together and are not. This kind of breakdown in relationships is not something that can be measured by statistics. Often people who are living together are actually living separate lives and the relationship they once had is long dead. Many couples who remain living under the same roof for financial reasons and the love they once felt for each other is not even a memory.
Statistics show that the number of people entering into marriage is declining. Is this because of the high cost of anything that you pay for a wedding or are people concerned that their relationship won't last for the rest of their lives?
It is a fact that people change. The person you are and the beliefs and goals that you have when you marry may change dramatically when you have children. What was right for you as a couple may no longer apply and this may cause tension in the relationship. There are many things that bring tension into our lives, moving into a new home, starting a new job, a death or an illness in the family and the birth of a child is one of those stressors.
I believe that the love a couple feels on their wedding day is not a guarantee that their relationship will last for the rest of their lives. What do you think?
